Berths 225-236 Evergreen Terminal
Port of Los Angeles, San Pedro, California

Cash & Associates led a multidiscipline
consultant team and provided complete structural and civil engineering services for
renovation of the 125-acre Evergreen America Corporation Terminal. The renovated
terminal features a modular mode to allow for directional changes of inbound and outbound
lanes to meet fluctuating terminal traffic patterns and future expansion. Terminal
planning and special studies to support the design effort included computer simulations
and various analyses. Results were utilized to develop an efficient, cost-effective
facility that maximizes throughput capacity at peak traffic periods and minimizes labor
costs during reduced traffic.
Maintaining ongoing terminal operations during construction was a key element of this
project. To accomplish this, Cash & Associates developed a series of complex
schedules.
The focus of the renovated terminal is a
new three story Administration Building and Entry Gate Complex. Other main
components designed for the Evergreen Container Terminal include a Maintenance &
Repair Building and support facilities (i.e., power shop/engine repair shop,
container/chassis repair shop), secondary gate facility, Marine Buildings,
inbound/outbound checker booths, reefer wash, Terminal Island Container Transfer Facility
gate, guardhouses, and terminal infrastructure (i.e., grading, drainage, site
utilities). A temporary M&R facility was also designed to provide service during
construction.
