Cash & Associates was responsible for development of conceptual plans for excavation and backfill, paving and drainage, a double-wide oil cellar, concrete approach mat, and miscellaneous structures to support reuse of an existing tank farm.  In addition to civil and structural design, Cash & Associates provided electrical engineering services to evaluate existing and required site power, and architectural design to improve the terminal's exterior appearance in keeping with a harbor beautification program.   Responsibilities included coordination of mechanical engineering and construction consultant efforts, as well as preparation of materials for agency presentations.   Deliverables included a Basis of Design document and construction cost estimates.

ETHANOL LOADING STATION & STORAGE - VOPAK TERMINAL

Cash & Associates was the Prime Consultant for preparation of construction documents to convert an existing inspection station into an ethanol loading station.  Design included modifications to an existing building to comply with hazardous area standards and the California Fire Code. In addition, two existing fixed roof storage tanks were converted to floating roof tanks and a new retaining area to collect potential spills and foam discharge was provided.  Hazardous area classifications implementing the National Electrical Code, NFPA 497 and API RP500 requirements were also incorporated into designs.  Structural design included supports to add two new ethanol loading arms, new pipe supports and foundations.  Emergency access plans for fire fighting equipment were developed, as well.  Infrastructure design to add a vapor combustion unit included new gas service, foundation support, electrical power and a communication system.

OIL SPILL BOOM DEPLOYMENT VESSEL DOCKS
Paleta Creek, Naval Station, San Diego, California

Cash & Associates provided engineering services for a design/build project to construct new floating docks to support oil spill boom deployment vessels.  Dock facilities consisted of a 240' long dock with six 50' fingers (five slips).  Power pedestals and dock utilities (water, compressed air, electrical), as well as high mast lighting were provided.  The project included substantial field work and coordination, detailed review of floating piers and gangway design and construction, design and construction support for dock utilities, and preparation of a detailed lighting study to ensure compliance with Navy anti-terrorism force protection standards.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE VESSEL DOCK & GANGWAY
GATX Marine Terminal, Los Angeles Harbor, California

Project management, engineering, construction documents and construction support services for a new "U" shaped floating timber dock with timber guide piles, and an aluminum gangway to support mooring and deployment of a power vessel used to place booms around docked tankers in accordance with California State Lands Commission Regulation "Article 5."   Design incorporated a hydrohoist to lift and store the vessel out of the water when not in use.  Utility designs included special provisions for the presence of volatile/explosive materials on or near the dock.  Work also included administration of a hydrogaphic survey of an existing adjacent timber wharf to establish elevations for the wharf, ground and bay bottom to determine best location for dock facilities.

OIL GATHERING & SHIPPING TERMINAL
Bakersfield, California

Cash & Associates provided engineering for design and construction of a new Santa Fe Energy Company oil gathering and shipping terminal.  The facility is used to accumulate produced oil for redistribution and sale to other oil concerns.   The terminal can accommodate transportation of oil via pipeline or tanker truck.   Design for this 80,000 BBL storage facility included waste handling, extensive steam tracing, and remote monitoring of equipment.  Distribution piping included ten gathering systems, condensate disposal lines and non-condensable collection system for condensate units.
