The Cash & Associates Team provided terminal planning services to assist the Port of Long Beach with development of alternative layouts to facilitate reuse of the Pier C Container Terminal.  Conceptual layouts considered potential cargo handling including containers, as well as the use of automobile stacking facilities and conventional automobile parking areas.  Planning included review of the existing site and amenities and identification of any major constraints.  Several alternative conceptual layouts were developed for review with the Port, the potential terminal tenant, and terminal operator.  Selected layouts were further refined prior to preparation of final site plans.

Redevelopment included the addition of 500 refrigerated container slots, a new reefer wash facility, and 40,000 SF maintenance/repair facility, as well as modifications to the existing conventional terminal gate to create a bi-directional, unmanned gate.  Cash & Associates was responsible for structural design of the new terminal buildings, modifications to the terminal gate, improvements to the terminal's wharf fender system and minor civil site improvements.

Cash & Associates provided project management, architecture, and civil and structural engineering for design of the original Pier C, Berths C60-C62 Terminal, as well.
